Ray, 22, was acquired from the Nationals in a trade for Doug Fister this off-season. Ausmus said Ray's fastball could work in the major leagues now, but as for how quickly he reaches the majors, 'a lot of it is going to depend on the secondary pitches. The quicker he commands his secondary pitches, the quicker he's going to be a major league pitcher.'
